Tennessee State Trooper Arrests Suspected Felony Drug Offender In Lawrence County
Arrest made following traffic stop, suspect wanted for felony cocaine possession
Press release
A Tennessee state trooper arrested a suspected drug offender on Tuesday for failing to appear in court following a traffic stop in Lawrence County.
Trooper Jeremy Miller stopped a 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe on Buffalo Road in Lawrence County because the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
While speaking with the driver, Timothy L. Smith, 44, of Lawrence County, Trooper Miller asked him if he had an arrest history. The driver appeared to be fabricating a story, explaining that he had had been arrested twenty years prior for DUI.
Trooper Miller determined that Smith did, in fact, have an active warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in court on a felony crack cocaine possession charge in Maury County.
Trooper Miller arrested Smith and transported him to the Maury County Jail where he awaits a court appearance.
